long time no see...

As per my usual habits, it has been nearly a month since I have written. While I tend to hang out on myspace more often now, I haven't forgotten about blogger. I have literally been too insane to even think about writing anything new here.

So, to update...

I have moved into my new house. I can't seem to express this enough....but I HATE MOVING. It's fine in Canada where there is a cool breeze and no soi dogs, but moving here was the most miserable experience. Not to mention, the house we have moved into had its own problems....including the air conditioning in our bedroom not working-something I can't live without in the Bangkok smog and heat....and no kitchen ceiling. It was supposed to be fixed before we moved in, but it is still open to the elements, which makes my mind wander to gross things like bats and cockroaches and big big lizards. Things are slowly getting fixed, I am loving my new place now, I have a bathtub and a nice yard and a quiet place to call my own not too far from the misery of the traffic.

Christmas is coming. I have gone for two years without even really pretending that it is here, because it makes me pretty homesick to be away from my parents and brothers....but this year, I decided to do it properly. We have a big tree in our livingroom complete with lights and decorations (my first fake tree in my entire life....I was embarrassed to take it out of the box....but in general, it's pretty nice and doesn't shed.)

We are finally properly staffed at work, making me a little more free to mark my students work (haven't done it in two months...) and plan some good activities for Christmas. I am really loving being a teacher. Seeing the excitement from the children really gets me in the spirit.

My package has arrived from my mum....Christmas goodies. I have to admit in the past two years Rin and I have held out for a few days but never really waited until Christmas, but this year we are doing it properly. Except for the magazine I knew would be in my stocking, and this morning as I was preparing to go get my hair chemically straightened (a four hour process) I did go through the box and read all the trash in my people magazine. (If anyone ever wants to send me something, send magazines. Trashy ones. People....In Style, really anything in English. I will love you forever.)

Rin got a new motorbike. A friend from work moved into my old house, and he happened to have an old motorbike kicking around, so he gave it to Rin. He is pumped.

Another addition to the Burtch-Reungsawat family...a karaoke machine. With the purchase of my new macbook, Rin had a karaoke program loaded onto our old desktop, and with his stereo equipment, it's quite the system. We tried it out last night by making a hell of a party (6 of us...) singing until the wee hours of the morning. Once all our friends had gone home around 2 in the morning, Rin was still singing in the front yard with no one around. Kind of sad really.

Speaking of Rin, the veggie selling starts in the new year. Get ready people...if you need limes, let me know.

That's about it. Everyone I know is having babies or has babies or is busy making babies....kind of a bizarre situation to be in. I'm not ready for that yet by any means, but it surely makes the biological clock tick.

Will try and post more often, some photos of Christmas stuff, Thai style.
